CANOLA

 CANOLA

Canola production in Pakistan has been steadily increasing in recent years. Pakistan is one of the major producers of canola oil in the region. The favorable climate and suitable agricultural practices have contributed to the growth of canola cultivation in the country. The government has also taken initiatives to promote canola production by providing subsidies and support to farmers. Canola oil is widely used in cooking and is considered a healthier alternative to other cooking oils. The increasing demand for canola oil both domestically and internationally has led to the expansion of canola production in Pakistan.

In many parts of the country Pakistan is contributing in the cultivation of canola like most of the cultivation is in the Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Canola is also known as Rap seed and its yield is very important for a country because of its oil contents and it is also grown in many parts of the world. In Pakistan rap seed cultivation starts in the year 1980's.
Rap seed was an optional crop with the wheat crop in the start, which was the main crop as a cash crop in Pakistan's main area (Punjab). The PAP (public authority of Pakistan) collaborates with the CIDA (Canadian Global Improvement Organization) and started a program for the betterment in the yield of canola for the advanced evolution of canola in country.

By the import of canola seed from Canada and given to the farmers across the country. The farmers developed the crop and collect the harvest but it was useful for the data sources and information about the seed.
Now in Pakistan canola is cultivated on large level including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Canola is just cultivated because of high oil content as it is used as a natural and favored cooking oil because of its natural tastes and rap seeds contains almost 40-46% oil contents. In addition to it is clear that the mustard crop contains 38-40% protein. Mustard and rap seed varieties contains less than 2% euric acid in oil contents. We can say that the canola consumption is better because of its natural and superiority in natural oil. As canola seed contains high oil content and natural in human consumption and canola seed is also an excellent feed for animals and birds. In Pakistan canola is grown over large area of all provinces about an area of 27 thousand hectares and its production is 102 thousand tones according to the year 2018-2019 report. In Pakistan, the major area's in the canola production are Attock, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jehlum, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Muzaffargarh.
