Agricultural Importance
For decades, agriculture has been used for the production of essential food and crops. In present era, agriculture includes not only farming but also includes forest studies, dairy forms, fruit cultivation, poultry, bee keeping, mushrooms, etc. Today, a lot of things are part of agriculture which includes processing, marketing and crops distribution and products of livestock etc. Agriculture is the backbone of economic system of a country. as agriculture provides food and raw material but at a very large scale agriculture also provides opportunities of employment. Followings are the importance of agriculture:
            
Livelihood
Agriculture is the main source of livelihood of many people. About 70 % of the people directly based on agriculture as a living source.  
                     
National revenue contribution
The main source of national income is agriculture  for developing countries. That is why, agriculture contributes a little percentage to their national income for the developed countries.
                  
Food and Fodder supply
For domestic animals agriculture provides fodder. Cow provides a protective food in form of milk which is beneficial for us. And livestock also provides other food requirements.
                      
Raw Material
Agriculture is the major source of providing raw materials for the major industries like as cotton and jute fabric, sugar, tobacco etc. There are also many other industries like as fruits processing and vegetables processing and rice husking get their raw material mainly from agriculture.
Resources of Foreign Exchange
The world's export trade largely depends on agriculture. Like as, agricultural commodities such as jute, tobacco, spices, oil seeds, raw cotton, tea and coffee accounts approximately 18 % of the entire value of exports of a country. This shows that agricultural products also continue to be important source of earning for a country foreign exchange.
